Sparta’s Deandra Luna named AAC Player of the Week

By Jerry Lowery Former Warriorette standout Deandra Luna is continuing to make her mark on basketball with Bryan College. The Appalachian Athletic Conference just named Luna the AAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.  The award is Luna’s second in her career and her first player of the week award this season.  She is averaging 26.5 points per game and six assists. Luna is also averaging five rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.  The award is coming off a tremendous game from Luna.  She scored 41 points in Bryan’s game against Milligan.  Her 41 points tied her for the third highest scoring game in Bryan College women’s basketball history.  She shot 62.5 percent from the field and hit 60 percent of her three-point shots.   Luna leads the team in assists with 67 on the season. Bryan College is currently 11-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play.  They are ranked number 18 in the nation.
