Tennessee Department of Education released the 2021-22 State Report Card this week, and White County was deemed an “advancing district.”

The TDOE’s State Report Card is an online tool designed to give parents, families, and members of the local communities a look at how each of Tennessee’s school districts, along with the individual schools within those districts, are performing and how they are serving the students in the community. The State Report Card also seeks to provide education professionals and school boards within each district information to help them determine how best to plan for future investments and make informed decisions in order to support the needs of the students they serve.

“With the release of the State Report Card, Tennessee continues our firm commitment to providing families with clear, actionable information on how our districts and schools are serving students,” Tennessee’s Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn explained. “The Report Card allows stakeholders to access years’ worth of meaningful data through an interactive, easy-to-navigate online platform, and now the latest data is available to help Tennesseans to explore and learn about their local schools and districts.”

As a district, White County had some good scores, with a couple of their schools reaching new milestones.

“White County Schools is proud to be an ‘advancing’ district. We were one of a handful of advancing districts in the region and only a few points shy of being named ‘exemplary.’” White County Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said. “This accomplishment is credited to the amazing teachers, leaders, and support staff in our schools. The citizens of this community can and should be proud of their public school system.”

White County High School and Cassville Elementary were both named Reward Schools and received a level five out of five for growth in both ELA and math, while Northfield Elementary and BonDeCroft Elementary schools received a level five for the growth they achieved in math scores.

The 2021-22 State Report Card contains general data including enrollment, finance, and staffing. In addition, the State Report Card includes performance indicators such as academic achievement, growth, chronically out of school, progress on English language proficiency, ready graduate, and graduation rate.

In an effort to make the site more useful to members of local communities hoping to see how their district and the schools within it are performing, the TDOE has improved the 2021-22 State Report Card to include several new features:

  • Improved usability and accessibility across district and school pages
  • Improved interactive visualization
  • Redesigned overall performance and information pages
  • Filter functions for school/district designations and distinctions
  • New badges for school designations and school/district distinctions
  • Google translator option
