The Tennessee Tech baseball team returns to Cookeville for its home-opening series for the 2022 season, playing host to Eastern Michigan in a three-game set starting Friday, Feb. 25 at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex.
The series will commence with a 3:00 p.m. CT tilt and be followed by a 1:00 p.m. affair on Saturday. Things will wrap up Sunday afternoon, with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with an unblemished, 3-0 record after sweeping play at the South Alabama Invitational over the weekend. Tech outscored opponents 26-14, producing a .271 batting average and 3.33 ERA as a team.
Welcoming back head coach Matt Bragga for his second stint as the leader of the Tech program, the purple and gold earned victories over Oral Roberts, Radford, and host South Alabama. In the tournament, Bragga picked up the 500th victory of his Division I coaching career.
The purple and gold saw its midweek tilt at Tennessee suspended due to heavy rain in the Knoxville era, with the No. 16-ranked Vols leading the Golden Eagles 5-4 with two outs in the top of the fifth. That game will be finished at a later date to be determined.
Eastern Michigan comes into the series with a 1-2 record, avoiding a sweep at Winthrop with a 6-0 victory on Sunday. The Eagles own a team batting average of .252 while the pitching staff has turned in an ERA of 3.24. EMU has allowed 19 runs on the year, but just nine have been earned.
