Tech baseball hits the road for in-state weekend series

(March 17, 2022) - The Tennessee Tech baseball team heads back out on the road for a weekend series with in-state rival ETSU, squaring off with the Buccaneers for the first time since 2013 starting with a Friday night tilt at 5:00 p.m. CT in Johnson City.

Game two of the series is slated for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch on Saturday while the series finale on Sunday will feature a 12:00 p.m. start. All three contests will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a midweek loss to Lipscomb on Tuesday, 21-7. Tech has turned in a 10-2 mark during the weekend this season.

Tech leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ranks seventh nationally with a .332 batting average and also paces the league with 189 hits and a .426 on-base percentage. The team ranks second with 140 runs scored and 121 RBI and third with 27 home runs and a .536 slugging percentage.

ETSU enters the weekend red hot with a seven-game winning streak, including a pair of midweek victories over Radford (11-4) and Lafayette (13-4). The Bucs are hitting .308 on the year with 25 home runs and a .401 on-base percentage. The ETSU pitching staff has been stout, holding opponents to a .213 batting average while boasting a 2.98 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 133 innings.
