Tennessee Tech ROTC to hold 9/11 memorial stair run

Posted

It’s hard to believe that Saturday will mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Twenty years since one of the darkest days in American history, but one that strengthened the country’s resolve and brought people together.

To commemorate those lost that day, Tennessee Tech ROTC’s Golden Eagle Battalion will hold a 9/11 Memorial Stair Run at Tucker Stadium on Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. The event will be one of several activities during Saturday’s game day, dedicated to the memory of the lost, while also recognizing our military members, first responders and health care workers.

Those interested in taking part in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Run can e-mail rotc@tntech.edu. The first 100 will receive a free T-shirt.

Members of Tech ROTC’s Golden Eagle Battalion will be wearing 45-pound backpacks to simulate the firefighters’ gear as they climbed up the World Trade Center that fateful day. While optional, participants are invited to bring a 45-pound backpack as well.

For more information about the event, e-mail Tech ROTC at rotc@tntech.edu.
