Posted

Tennessee Tech students who graduated in Spring 2020 and Summer 2020, including those who received master’s degrees and doctorates, will have a chance to walk across the stage and enjoy a live commencement ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 8.

More than 700 students have signed up to participate in one of three commencement ceremonies on Saturday at the Hooper Eblen Center. The program, which will be altered from past commencement ceremonies, will include video recordings and a live address from Tech President Phil Oldham.

Because of COVID-19, several health and safety measures have been taken into consideration for graduates and guests. Those measures include:

Face coverings will be required to enter the Hoop and must remain on at all times. Ushers will have disposable masks for guests who do not arrive with one.

Floor seating for graduates has been reconfigured to allow distancing.

Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to seating sections.

Disinfecting wipes will be available for attendees, and you are asked to wipe down your arm rests and seat before using.

Seat coverings used by graduates will be replaced with new coverings after each ceremony.

Encouraging students and guests not to attend if you have a fever or are experiencing other COVID-19 symptoms.

Spring and Summer 2020 graduates who choose not to attend on Saturday may choose one of two future ceremonies, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, by making a request at https://www.tntech.edu/commencement/schedule.php. The special requests must be received by either Oct. 15 for this fall or March 15, 2021, for spring in order for graduates to walk.
