  • Kenneth Milligan was re-elected to serve as commander of American Legion Post 99.
  • The Rev. Ray Dykes, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, was elected president of Sparta Jaycees.
  • Mrs. James H. Lee was named The Expositor’s Mother of the Year

1983

  • LPN Dot Bickford received a plaque from Sparta Healthcare Center proclaiming her Nurse of the Year.
  • Lee Cummings, age 12, won the district Special Olympics tournament, in Cookeville and the state tournament in Nashville and would go on to compete in Louisiana.
  • Warriorette basketball coach Keith Short was named Upper Cumberland Conference Coach of the Year.

1993

  • Gabe Teeple, Shawn Tollison, J.J. Moore, and Matt Day were named Warrior football captains for the 1993-1994 school year.
  • Heidi Roberts and Levonda Hallums became the first mother-daughter pair to graduate from the School of Nursing at Tennessee Tech.
  • Lindsay Downs became the second girl in the state to play for an all-male football team when she joined White County High School Warrior football team.

2003

  • The 60 surviving members of the White County High School Class of 1943 gathered for their 60th class reunion.
  • Kellye Eldridge was crowned Renaissance Princess in the 2003 Renaissance Princess Pageant.
  • Several branches of law enforcement gathered at the gravesite of former sheriff Charles Anderson to pay their final respects. Anderson served as sheriff 1990-1998.

2013

  • Upper Cumberland Regional Airport appointed three new officers: Paul Bailey, Dr. Daniel Coonce, and Will Roberson.
  • Bonnie Qualls Stockton would be celebrating her 90th birthday, on May 26. The family was planning a celebration for Bonnie, on May 25
  • The White County High School swim team was honored with a banquet. Members included Karli Fisher, Becky Maine, Brittany Burke, Ethan James, Kent Sapp, Jacob Winton, Dalton Pope, Clint Cannon Jonathan Bohannon, Hunter McCoy.
