WCHS standout basketball player and state award winner Bella Taylor announced that she would continue her basketball career as a member of the Sewanee basketball team and signed her National Letter of Intent.
The White County Anti-Drug Coalition received a $1,000 donation from coalition member and Walgreens pharmacist Elizabeth Kirby.
Kordell Henderson, a Whtie County Warrior and state award winner, signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career at King University.
2005
The 2005 Women’s Show was deemed a great success with visitors from around Middle Tennessee coming to Sparta to participate.
Roger Scott, former Whtie County teacher, did a book signing at Pat’s Book and Card to promote his book of poetry, “A Natural Bent.”
1995
Pamela Boggs was chosen as employee of the year at White County Community Hospital.
Middle Tennessee Natural Gas completed pipelining construction that greatly improved service to customers an expanded their customer base.
Commissioners began discussing funding for the new middle school.
1985
City Recorder Marty Carmicheal swore in Sparta’s new mayor, Bob Breeding.
Judge John Maddux was a guest speaker at a North End Community Crime watch meeting.
1975
A Nashville engineering firm submitted the low bid for the new TVA City of Sparta dam on the Calfkiller River.
The public square in the center of Sparta was renamed “Liberty Square.”
