•The 6th Annual Aaron Shafer memorial Road Race saw more than 200 bikers take part in the event with $4,000 in cash and $3,000 in prizes on the line.

•White County FFA held their Spring Banquet where, among other things, they recognized the recipients of State Degrees: Zoe Cantrell, Natalye Steele, Cody Simmons, Hannah Wilkins, Clay Wilson, Josh Templeton, Blake Carter, Colton Hudgens, and Daniel Bray.

•Cole Crosland, a member of the White County High School Warriors, was named the 6AAA boys’ Tennis Player of the Year.

2005

•Kylie Rogers, a former White County High School Warriorette, completed her first year as TTU’s assistant golf coach.

•The Generations Unit at White County Community Hospital received the Circle of Excellence Award for 2005.

1995 

•Several local businesses were burglarized, including Hickory Valley Factory Outlet, Mallory Controls, and Carter’s Hickory Mill.

•Senator Fred Thompson made a brief stop in Sparta to make a few comments and answer questions.

•Oklahoma City Bombing hits close to home, causing building evacuations as well as putting fear into residents.

1985

•Carl Sims donated several thousand dollars’ worth of Data General computer equipment to White County High School.

•Dr. Leonard F. Hodes of Hamilton County joins local Walling Dental Center.

•Tonya Bolin officially signed to play volleyball for Middle Tennessee State University.

1975

•Doug Benningfield received a $500 scholarship from Cookeville Production Credit Association.

•White County Senior High began the girls’ softball program.

•The fifth and sixth grade Social Studies classes from East Sparta Elementary School visited the State Capitol in Nashville.
