  • White County High School was crowned the state archery champions, making it a back-to-back win for the Warriors.
  • White County Relay for Life received a $500 donation from Project Hometown Help, a project run by Middle Tennessee Natural Gas.
  • Two White County High School athletes earned TSWA All State Honors. Bella Taylor, a senior point guard for the Warriorettes, and Kordell Henderson, a senior forward for the Warriors, were honored.

2005

  • David Bruce took over as coach of the White County High School boys’ soccer team.
  • Jerry Lowery was named Parks and Recreation Director by White County commissioners.
  • White County High School was named one of seven schools across the state accepted as members of Successful Practices Network, a national network of approximately 200 schools that demonstrated commitment to school improvement and high academic achievement for all students.

1995 

  • Potters Builder Mart celebrated their red ribbon cutting ceremony for their grand opening celebration.
  • The National Guard Armory held an artillery exposition, with 123 people showing up to view the variety of weapons on display.
  • White County commissioners agreed to the purchase of 20 acres on Hale Street, adjacent to the fairgrounds and Findlay Elementary School.

1985

  • Joe Broyles announced his candidacy for Sparta city alderman.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jarvis celebrated 50 years of marriage with a reception at Sparta Civic Center.
  • White County Executive Manuel Officer turned over the first shovel of dirt at the site of Appalachian Woods Products-Sparta plant as part of their expansion.

1975 

  • Severe flooding caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage during the 48-hour deluge. Homes were flooded, bridges washed away, livestock were lost, roads were damaged, and residents had to be rescued from their homes by the Rescue Squad.
  • Army General Carl Wallace arrived in Sparta by helicopter and visited the Sparta Armory.
  • Fred Thompson, Nashville attorney and widely known for his role in uncovering portions of the Watergate cover-up, appeared a the guest speaker for Law Day in Sparta.
