2015
Mike Kerr was named White County Emergency Medical Service’s new director.
Herman Hill, of White County, was honored for his life-long accomplishments and making a difference in his community at the third annual Impact Honors Banquet.
White County High School Archery team won their second tournament in a row behind the shooting of Chris Morton, Brett Howard, Hayden Robbins, Haile Young, and Jacklynn Bryant who all placed in the top three shooters.
2005
White County High School released the names of the fifth and sixth seniors in their top graduating ten. Keela Henry was named sixth, while Lacy Loftis was named fifth.
A Cessna 172 landed upside down in a wheat field after the pilot experienced engine trouble and could not make it to the airport.
Wayne Sherrell was named interim director of E-911.
1995
The Warriorettes claimed their sixth district 7-AAA title.
White County Courthouse received three new air conditioning units to replace the 20-year-old unit that was removed.
Upper Cumberland Regional Airport considered a proposal by North End Volunteer Fire Department to house some of their equipment there to more quickly respond to fuel spills or other catastrophes at the airport. The department also asked the airport to consider the extra equipment the department would need if they were to have to respond to an emergency at the airport.
1985
Petty Officer Robert Barnett Gilliam, of Sparta, was selected as the Naval Diving and Salvage Center’s Sailor of the Year for 1984.
Frank Eichelberger, of Sparta, received the China War Memorial Medal from the government of the Republic of China, 40 years after he served in World War II.
1975
Boyd Haston and T. Stanton Hale, incumbent city aldermen, announced their candidacies for re-election.
Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce announced it had installed a telephone line to allow the citizens of the community to voice their opinions and comments of the various issues facing the community.
Tennessee Valley Authority asked for bids to be submitted for construction of a new dam at the Calfkiller Reiver near the water plant on Highway 84.
