Tuesday, Aug. 31, Tropical Depression Ida update @ approximately 6 a.m.

  • Approximately 1" of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours in our area.
  •  Rain is expected to continue throughout the day on Tuesday, with some shower becoming heavy at times. An additional 2-4" of rain is possible throughout Tuesday.
  • There are no reports of significant flooding in Putnam County, but some roadways have standing water in areas.
  • Strong storms may develop throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday. The severe threat has decreased, but strong to severe storms and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out on the Cumberland Plateau.
  • A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1, for the potential of heavy downpours on already saturated ground.

• Never attempt to cross standing water on roadways or sidewalks - Turn Around, Don't Drown!

• Stay weather aware as strong to severe storms may develop throughout the day on Tuesday.
