Valentine’s Gala set for Feb. 5 at Duck Pond Manor

Valentines is about romance and special moments, and, this year, there will be a celebration, while also extending financial assistance to one of Sparta’s non-profit organizations.

The Valentine’s Gala will be 7-10 p.m., Feb. 5, 2022, a week before the holiday, at Duck Pond Manor, and will include food, live music by the ever-popular ‘Big Band Sound’, and, of course, dancing.

“We are hoping that this will be a great community event,” Terri Dickerson, one of the organizers of the Gala, said. “Leading up to the ball, we are also hosting ballroom dance lessons.”

The lessons, which are being hosted at Dickerson’s home, will be taught by Bruce Anderson, dance instructor from Tennessee Tech, and are taking place 6-7 p.m., on Thursdays. Questions can be directed to Dickerson through her Facebook page or by calling Tri- Star Realty at (931) 836-2259.

“The class, which is geared for us beginners to ballroom dance, is $20 per couple,” Dickerson said, “but that money goes directly to the instructor. We are just here for the fun.”

Tickets for the Valentine’s Gala itself are on sale now at the cost of $40 per person or $75 per couple and can be purchased at Tri-Star Realty and Auction, at 566 N. Spring St., in Sparta.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds from the ball will be given to Clean Hearts Ministries,” Dickerson said.

Clean Hearts Ministries, at 17 E. Maple St., in Sparta, offers faith-based workbook study classes for the following programs:

  • Stepping Into Freedom: A 12 Step Program
  • Anger: Our Master or our Servant – Anger Management
  • Concerned Persons - A family and Friend Recovery Program
  • Grief and Loss Recovery - Helping people move forward after loss
  • Clean Heart Substance Abuse – a secular Alcohol Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous Workbook Study Program

In addition to their classes, Clean Hearts has opened a Veterans Outreach Center within their facility. The Veterans Outreach program is a non-government affiliated entity that provides all veterans with an alcohol / drug and tobacco free atmosphere to fellowship with fellow veterans. Veterans are offered access to all of Clean Hearts programs. The Veterans Outreach has also partnered with American Job Centers.

The Clean Hearts’ building also houses a Crisis Pregnancy Center with a focus not only on prenatal care but also providing new mothers with the sources needed for successful parenting.
