Vietnam veterans honored during recognition ceremony

Posted

American Legion Post 99, in Sparta, hosted the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Day ceremony, on March 29. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 permanently designates that every year March 29 will be celebrated as National Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Day. It was on March 29, 1973, when combat and combat support units withdrew from South Vietnam. Communists were in control of North Vietnam. The USA was afraid that communism would spread to South Vietnam, so U.S. troops were sent to aid South Vietnam in their fight.  The Expositor /SpartaLive regrettably was not able to obtain the names of all the veterans before they quickly scattered to reminisce with each other. We would greatly appreciate your help in identifying these brave men. Please call Kim Wood at (931) 836-3284 or email kim@spartalive.com. The names will be posted with the photo on SpartaLive.com.
