Virginia “Ginny” Geraty Evans went to join her Heavenly Father, on Sept. 10, 2021. She was 82 years old.

Ginny was born in Charleston, South Carolina, where she founded Just-T, an herbal tea company with international distribution. She eventually moved to Sparta and Van Buren County, Tennessee to be closer to her children as she neared retirement.

In her retirement, Ginny enjoyed birdwatching, observing wildlife, and listening to classical music. Her association with Sam Soleyn Ministries was a great comfort. Ginny kept up regular contact with her siblings and extended family. Nothing gave her more joy than a visit with them.

Ginny was involved in the Sparta community at the Senior Center, the YMCA, and Crossroads Episcopal Church where she taught herbal tea brewing workshops.

Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Thomas James Evans; her father, Captain James Ray Geraty; her stepfather, Charles Cooper Geraty; her mother, Virginia Mixson Geraty; her brother, James Ray Evans III; her sister, Judith Geraty Hicks; and her sons, Robert Charles Evans and James Christopher Evans

She is survived by her siblings, Joy Geraty Massenburg, Charlotte Geraty Main, and Edward Mixson Geraty; her daughters, Virginia Elizabeth Evans and Laura Anne Wallace; her daughter-in-law, Barbara King Evans; her grandchildren, Barbara DeAnne Evans, Robert Charles Evans II (Natasha), Daniel Perkins; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah Reising, Harper Evans, and great-grandson-to-be, Cian A. Evans.

Service arrangements will be announced in the future.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
