Walker family has donated World War I items to museum

Posted

The family of Wesley Monroe Walker gathered together, on March 5, 2023, to donate some of his World War I equipment to the American Legion Veterans Museum.  The equipment included his mess kit, canteen, and his campaign hat.  Walker used the equipment while he served in the U. S. Army, in France, from January 1918 until November 1918.

This is the second donation made by the family. The previous donation included the soldier’s wool combat field tunic uniform coat, wool infantry Doughboy oversea cap, and photo of Walker. All of the items are over 100 years old. The Walker family wants to share the rich history that is White County.
