On Nov. 23, the White County High School Warriors and Warriorettes hosted the visiting Wilson Central team in basketball action.

The Warriorettes took control of the game early and defeated Wilson by a score of 78-16.  The Warriorettes led 39-7 at halftime, with strong play from Morgan Quick, Gracie Dodgen, and Mia Murray.

Coach Michael Dodgen stated, “We have six or seven kids that can put the basketball in the hole. We still have to develop a backup point guard, but our top seven or eight players are getting the job done for us every night, and that’s what you have to have happen to be successful.”

The Warriorettes are 3-0 on the season and have won by an average of 43 points.

The Warriors could not slow down the Wilson Central offense and lost their first game of the season.

The Warriors took an early lead but could not hold that lead as the Wildcats from Wilson Central took the lead into halftime 31-20.  Wilson Central continued to lead and won the game by a 65-53 margin.  It was the first loss of the season for the Warriors.

Coach Eric Mitchell stated, “We got out-played at every aspect of the game. We have got some things to work on before district play.”

On Nov. 24, the Warriors and Warriorettes took to the road and traveled south to Manchester to take on the Coffee County High School Red Raiders in high school basketball action.

The teams split as the Warriorettes lost their first game of the season in a very close game that needed to go into overtime to determine a winner.

The Warriorettes had the lead most of the game and seemed to have the game in hand.  The Warriorettes were up by three points, with 10 seconds to play, when Coffee County hit a long range three to tie the game at 59, with four seconds to play.

The Warriorettes’ Gracie Dodgen did get off a long range three, but the ball hit the front of the rim, falling short and sending the game into overtime.

The Red Raiders outscored the Warriorettes 10-6 in the overtime period to hand the Warriorettes their first loss of the season.  The final score was 69-65.

The Warriors defeated the Coffee County Red Raiders by 18 points, with a final score of 68-50.  The Warriors took control of the game early and held the lead and took the win to move to 3-1 on the season.
