White County High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders recently attended Universal Cheerleaders Association cheer camp, in Gatlinburg.

The three-day camp consisted of learning cheers, chants, band dances, and a camp routine. White County competed with other schools from Tennessee as well as schools from Georgia and Kentucky. White County came home with the “banana,” which is the most sought after item at camp. It is won by the squad with the most spirit and tradition. White County High School won it the first night.

Both White County squads won the spirit stick all three days and numerous blue ribbons, with the junior varsity squad winning the gold ribbon, which was won by bringing Warrior Stadium to them at camp.

Only four gold ribbons were awarded. On competition day, the varsity cheer team walked away with second place cheer and first place overall for the whole camp. The junior varsity cheer team, who competed with varsity squads, came away with a third place and two second place trophies, one of which was second place overall.
