The Warriors traveled to Baxter, on Dec. 10, 20212, to take on the Upperman Bees. Coach Eric Mitchell prepared his team for a tough battle in front of a packed gym. The Warriors came out with the win in a hard-fought game.

Mitchell didn’t realize that not only was it a district win but it was his 500th career win as a head coach. Mitchell enters his 18th season at the helm of the WCHS boys’ basketball program. He began his coaching career as the head coach of Pickett County High School, where he coached for three years. Coach Mitchell then moved on to coach three years at Loudon High School. Mitchell has averaged just over 20 wins per season.

WCHS administration and staff were proud to honor Mitchell with the presentation of a commentative basketball noting the 500th win. Mitchell has played a big part in the continued success of the historic basketball history of White County High School. Mitchell contributes his success to the “great players” that have played for him over his almost 26 years of coaching high school basketball. Congratulations to Coach Mitchell and all the players who have contributed to his successful career.

On Dec. 14,  before the boys’ game, Coach Mitchell will be presented a commemorative ball for his 500th win as a head coach.
