WCHS Warriors and Warriorettes win opening games

White County High School Warriors and Warriorettes opened the season, on Nov. 21, against Hixson High School in the yearly Hall of Fame game that is allowed by the TSSAA.

It was a great night for both teams at Roy Sewell Gymnasium, on the campus of White County High School.  The Warriorettes started strong and dominated Hixson by a score of 70-31.  The Warriorettes out rebounded Hixson 30-26.  The Warriorette defense forced 29 turnovers in the big win.

Gracie Dodgen led the team with 18 points.  Morgan Quick and Nia Powers added eight points, and Kanden Reeves added seven points.  Addison Frazer scored five points.  Taylor Roberts and Alania Stiles added two points each.  Jensine Lane added one point in the win.  The Warriorettes shot 67 percent from the free-throw stripe.

The Warriors came out strong in their first game of the season against Hixson.  The final score was 86-50 in favor of the Sparta Warriors.

Grant Slatten went over the 1,000-point mark on the night as he scored 37 points in the win.  Masyn Winningham added 13 points.  Tanner Paul scored 11 points.  Austin Burchett and Micah Webster added six points each.  Kade Clark scored four points, and Trey Crockett added three points in the game.  Keagen Dodson, Nick Plunkett, and Markeese Coleman scored two points each in the win.  The Warriors won the rebound battle 22-19.  The Warriors shot 80 percent from the free-throw line.
