Warriors move to 5-3 on season

 The White County High School Warriors soundly defeated the Clay County Bulldogs by a score of 28-7, on Oct. 16. 

The Warriors scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to take a commanding lead. With 8:33 to play in the first quarter, Owen Adams ran 29 yards to score the first touchdown of the night.  Dawson Stewart added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.  At the 3:41 mark in the first, Adams passed to Javin Strode for a 16-yard touchdown to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead after Stewart added the extra point. 

With just 50 seconds left to play in the first quarter, Hunter Pope rumbled eight yards to paydirt to score, and Strode took the snap and scrambled into the endzone for the two point conversion.  The score at the half was 22-0. 

Clay County got on the board in the third quarter, with a 32-yard pass to cut the lead to 22-7.  With 4:10 left in the third quarter, the Warriors’ Pope added his second touchdown of the night with a six-yard run.

The final score ended 28-7, with the Warriors moving to 5 -3 on the season with the win. 

The Warriors’ offense was led by Hunter Pope as he rushed 11 times for 111 yards.  Owen Adams followed with 17 carries for 96 yards.  D.J. Paul had 7 carries for 41 yards.  Caleb Bailey rushed eight times for 35 yards.  Christian Kelso ran one time for 10 yards.  Adams passed 12 times with five completions for 41 yards.
