WCMS eighth grade basketball

The eighth grade boys’ basketball team has lost its second straight game at the hands of the Warren County Pioneer 8th grade team.  They lost to Avery Trace by a 51-31 margin.  The Pioneers outscored the Warriors 46-33.  Colten Locke led the Warriors with 10 points.  Brenton Kilgore scored six points.  Malachi Brown scored five points.  Owen Adams scored four points.  Levi Grigss put in three points.  Briar Wilhite and Kolby Young scored two points each, and Blake Steele had one point to round out the scoring.  Isaiah Cummings led Warren County with 21 points, and Trayton Terry scored 14 to help the Pioneers over the Warriors.

The eighth grade girls’ basketball team won their second game in a row by beating Warren County.  They defeated Avery Trace last week by a score of 41-29.  The game was much closer against the Pioneers.  The Warriorettes won by a slim four points, 44-40.  Sparta fell behind in the first quarter and then outscored Warren County in the second to take a one point lead at halftime, 16-15.  Warren County then bounced back in the third quarter and took the lead, 26-28.  The Warriorettes put together a great fourth quarter and outscored the Pioneers 18-12 to take the win.  The final score was 44-40.  Rylee Savage led the Warriorettes with 15 points.  Celeste Reed put in 12 points.  Laney Copeland and Ava Jones scored four point each.  Bella Stiles scored three points.  Pyper Price and Braydyn Taylor scored two points each.
