WCMS Warriorettes win big over Avery Trace

Posted

Dec. 6 was supposed to be a night full of basketball for the students, parents, and fans of White County Middle and Avery Trace Middle schools.   Due to illness among the boys’ team at Avery Trace, four games were reduced to just one.

The lone game played was a tilt between the varsity Warriorettes and the Lady Raiders.  The young ladies from Sparta came out firing on all cylinders. It was if they wanted to put last week’s loss to the other Cookeville middle school in the rear-view mirror.

White County dominated the game in every area.  They shot the ball well. They played great defense and seemed to grab every available rebound.  A hot start got the Warriorettes off to a 15-2 score after the first quarter. They kept pouring on steam and the lead had grown to 30-2 at half-time.

Everyone on the bench was able to play valuable minutes in the second half of the game. The final score ended up being 57-4.

Ashlyn Selby led all scorers with 19 points. Bella Winningham added 11 points. Lily Parker had 7 points on the night. Hannah Haley had 6 points. Gracie Clark and Brooke Burke added 5 points apiece. Kylie Norvall also got in the scorebook with 2 points.
