WCMS Warriors’ season ends with loss to White House

Posted

The White County Middle School Warriors faced off against the Blue Devils of White House, on Jan. 31.  The Blue Devils looked a lot like the ones coached by Coach K during warmups. The boys from Sparta were definitely at a size disadvantage against the much taller visitors.  The Warriors were not intimidated at all and came out playing hard.

The first quarter was closely contested and found the Warriors only trailing by three points as the score was 12-9 in favor of the Blue Devils.

The Warriors played great defense and outscored the boys from White House in the second quarter and went into the locker room at half-time tied 19-19.

The visitors made a concerted effort to feed the ball into the post in the third quarter taking advantage of their size.  The Devils made many trips to the free throw line and never seemed to miss.  The Warriors made the home crowd proud as they kept playing hard for the entire game. Tucker Pinion got hot from the three-point line and almost shot the home team back into the game. Every run by the Warriors was met with an answer from the Blue Devils.

The final score of the game was 57-47 in favor of White House.

Tucker Pinion led the Warriors in scoring with 19 points, followed closely by Cole Sims with 17. The loss brings an end to a good season for the Warriors who finished with 15 wins and eight losses. Coach Mark Sims and the Warriors will have to replace several key players next season but will bring back their starting backcourt and the majority of their scoring.
