What does a Chamber of Commerce do?

What does a Chamber of Commerce do?  Former President of the Cookeville Chamber George Halford summed it up, “If you’ve seen one Chamber, you’ve seen one Chamber.” In other words, all Chambers of Commerce are different.

In the case of the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce, we are often the first call for people relocating to White County - - and that includes businesses. Your Chamber also spends thousands of dollars per year advertising White County’s natural resources from coast to coast attracting tens-of-thousands of tourists to Sparta. The Chamber is the entity who produces the 30,000 brochures that are placed in every Welcome Center, in Tennessee. We produce other tourism resources like the county map and maintain websites like ExploreSparta.com, which itself attracts thousands of tourists per year. A portion of those tourists decide to relocate where they find recreation, some retire here, some move here to work, some bring their businesses. All of them create opportunity through traffic for our many restaurants and retail stores.

In the past few years, this Chamber has also helped direct people looking for basic needs such as housing, food, and medical help to service agencies who can help them. We have lobbied for our local businesses. We have helped several manufacturers resolve problems ranging from workforce to storage space; we have organized training for retailers and resolved hundreds of technical issues for both members and non-members. We have helped new businesses find financing, location, and employees. This Chamber has written many grants and helped others write their own. Founded in 1895, the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce is the oldest, continuously-operating chamber in the state of Tennessee.

The Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce is here to help. How can we help you?
