White County Fishing Team closes season with banquet

The White County Fishing Team, which includes student athletes in elementary, middle, and high school, recently brought their 2021-2022 season to an end with their annual banquet.

The team recognized their graduating seniors, Elijah Kelley and Hunter Slone, saying they will miss the leadership and experience the duo brought to the team, but are excited for their futures as well as the future of the team they have helped to guide.

Kelley received a college scholarship and will head to Kentucky Christian University to continue his fishing career at the collegiate level next fall.

During the banquet, the team also recognized their points leaders for the most recent season. Camden Ryan and Cassidy Gilbert were the team point leaders for the Warrior fishing team, while Austin Billingsley was the individual points leader.

“We would like to thank all of our sponsors, especially our local sponsors,” the team said in a released statement. “We would like to thank Bobby Robinson for providing the meal, Denny Wayne Robinson for supporting the club, and Sherry Vinson for letting us use her venue, Vinson Farms.”

The team’s next season will begin in September 2022 and is open to any White County youth, regardless of school affiliation, from elementary through graduating seniors.
