White County Warriors dominate Eagles

Posted

The White County Warriors took the court to play the Shelbyville Eagles, on Nov. 21.  The Warriors took control of the game early and dominated the play on both ends of the court.  Japheth Richmond scored off of a nice inbound play.  Pinion caught the defense flat-footed and drove hard to the basket for an easy deuce.  Pinion would then drive in collapsing the defense, then he passed it out to a wide-open Thomas Paul for 3.  Jake Davis also got hot from behind the arc and nailed a couple of 3s.  The Warriors doubled up the Eagles 22-11 after one quarter.

The Warriors continued to roll and expanded their lead in the second quarter. Thomas Paul scored from inside and outside. Pinion played like a post player, grabbing rebounds in the paint.  The Warrior defense held the Eagles to 7 points in the second quarter, making the halftime score 45-18.

The third quarter saw the Warriors stay hot from behind the arc. Pinion hit a 3. Thomas Brock had two beautiful 3-pointers. Davis also hit from long range. At the end of three quarters, the Warriors led 62-27.

Coach Eric Mitchell emptied his bench for the entire fourth quarter. This gave his younger players much needed varsity experience. Dickerson brothers Logan and Lucus both hit 3-pointers as did Jackson Young. The Warriors cruised to a 72-35 victory.

All five starters scored in double figures on the night.  Tripp Pinion led the team with 16 points. Thomas Paul scored 14. Jake Davis had 12, Thomas Brock had 11, and Japheth Richmond finished with 10. The Warriors stayed undefeated on the season.
