White County Woodsmen 4-H Shooting Sports

White County was proudly represented at the Nashville Gun Club, May 7, 2022 by the 4-H Trap & Skeet Team, The White County Woodsmen. This competition was the State 4-H Shotgun Jamboree. 

The competition is a rigorous activity that demands scored points for the Senior members in both disciplines of American Trap and American Skeet. The Junior members are required to shoot 100 rounds in American Trap only. White County sent a total of 17 members who competed against a combined total of 231 other shooters. 

There are four seniors who qualified for the State invitationals that will be held at The Loan Oaks, in Middleton, Tennessee, in September:

Jayden Keith scored 88, Tyson Gooch scored 86, Lillie Roberts scored 78, and Ethan Riis scored 78 out of 100 rounds. Only the top 65 shooters get to move on and receive an invitation for the next round.

The other Seniors that participated were Casey Geer, Tyler Driver, Cole Vickers, Owen Taylor, Warren Brandes, Zane Johnson, Kenneth Bryant, Jesse Elam and Tara Molbert. They narrowly missed the qualifying amount.

The Junior Team consisted of Ty Measles, Rebecca Phipps, Abram Lawson and Chet Roberts. All of these young shooters, impressively shot over 60 percent.

Ty Measles placed 6th and Chet Roberts placed ninth overall in the Junior Category.

The Junior Squad placed fifth in overall Team Scores.

Throughout the season, all shooters have hit milestones in their discipline but nothing is better than hitting that first 25 straight. The shooters that have achieved that bragging right this season is Tyler Driver, Tyson Gooch, Cole Vickers, and Ty Measles. All of these individuals achieved this milestone in a practice during the season. Chet Roberts achieved this during the Jamboree competition.

The White County 4-H club, their coaches, Jennifer and Cody Roberts, and their parents are proud of their remarkable scores and sportsmanship of the White County Woodsmen 4-H Shooting Sports Teams.  Their willingness, determination, and hard work has paid off this season. We look forward to next season.

We would also like to say congratulations to our lone senior of Class 2022, Kenneth Bryant. We wish him well in all of his future endeavors as he moves on to his next stage in life. He will be missed among this group of fantastic young adults.
