William “Bill” George Riggs, 93, of Sparta, passed away peacefully at his home, on Nov. 16, 2021, at the age of 93.

Mr. Riggs was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to R. McDowell Riggs and Grace Million Riggs.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Riggs; a daughter-in-law, Diane Riggs; a son-in-law James Waller; two sisters, Maxine Sago, Mary Decker; and a brother, Ronald Riggs.

He leaves behind a wife of 67 years, Frances Marsh Riggs; a son, Galen Riggs, of Nolensville; daughters, Cynthia Shafer, of Olatha, Kansas, Karen Waller, of Cookeville; a granddaughter, Hayley Waller, of Cookeville; a brother, Robert Riggs, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Bill Raper, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Nancy Riggs, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Bill Decker, of Pocahontas, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Riggs chose a private memorial service for the family at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Sparta, the American Cancer Society, of a charity of your choice.
