William Glynn Guy, 81, of the Hickory Valley community of White County, passed away Oct. 12, 2020, at his home on Blackburn Mountain. 

Mr. Guy was born July 26, 1939, in the Hickory Valley community to Ike Guy and Virgie Kirby Guy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Franklin Guy; and an infant sister, Louise Guy. Mr. Guy was also preceded in death by a beloved son, Barney Guy, which he forever grieved such a loss.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mamie VanWinkle Guy and  children, Tamara (Rick) Swindell, Libby (Matthew) Rholander, and Todd (Sara) Guy, all of whom reside in Sparta.

Mr. Guy had many wonderful grandchildren:  Shannon Hammons, Julianne Guy, and Ethan Guy, along with their mother, Nora Mott, as well as Micha VanWinkle, SSGT Billy VanWinkle (U.S. Air Force -Afghanistan),  CPL Ty VanWinkle (U.S. Marines - New Port, Rhode Island), Ashland Rholander, Dustin Guy, Abby Guy, John-William Guy, Azzy Irwin, and Carter Rich.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Sophia Hammons and Scarlett Hammons, along with their father, Jerrome Hammons.

Other than his wife, his love was farming.  He was employed at    the Southeastern Regional Correctional Facility for 21 years.  Mr. Guy enjoyed his down time, visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and watching his favorite sport, basketball. He was adored by many in his community and loved deeply by his family.  He will be forever missed.

         Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Oct. 15, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Hickory Valley Church Cemetery. Bro. Doug Benningfield will officiate. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Oct. 14, at the funeral home.
