Renowned musician Todd Williams will perform in Tennessee Tech’s Wattenbarger Auditorium Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Williams is known for his saxophone and clarinet work with the Wynton Marsalis Quintet, Septet and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
Williams has been credited with such positions as assistant professor at Queens College and music director of Times Square Church and is currently a member of the music faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University.
He has performed at most every distinguished venue from several performances at the White House to Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.
His list of accomplishments include extensive recordings with Marsalis and guest appearances with such artists as Sir Roland Hanna, the Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Grammy Award winner, Christian McBride.
Williams is a four-time recipient of ASCAP’s Plus Award for Composers.
He began his undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. and completed his bachelor’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music in jazz/commercial composition. He continued his education at Columbia Teachers College, where he earned a Master of Arts in music education.
Williams recently earned his doctoral degree in music education from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
