Teresa Darlene Officer “Cookie” Milton

Teresa Darlene Officer “Cookie” Milton, 57, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 8, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Milton was born June 19, 1962, in Sparta, to James Edward “Butch” Officer and Mary Frances Cullom Officer.
She was a basketball standout at White County High School and went on to a career at Martin Methodist and later Tennessee Tech. Following her playing career at Tennessee Tech, she joined Keith Short’s coaching staff at her alma mater where she also taught Special Education. After her teaching and coaching career ended, she babysat children. She was a member of Oakwood Street Church of Christ. She loved to care for children, and she loved to draw.
Survivors include her husband, Arnee Milton, of Sparta; children,
Tanisha Monique Milton and fiancé Jimminy C. Harris, Marshall Dwight Milton, all of Sparta; brothers, James Edward (Evelyn) Officer Jr., of McMinnville, Anthony “Tony” Officer, of Sparta, Dale (Heather) Officer, of Sparta; sister, Carnella Officer and fiancé Eugene Grayson, of Sparta; special sister, Nikki Cummings, of Sparta; aunts, Diane Ruth (Jospeh) Pittman, of California, Judith Snow, of Indiana; uncle, John Douglas (Virginia) Cullom, of Clarksville; brother-in-law, Charlie Milton; sisters-in-law, Geraldene Manuel, Zelma Manuel, Marilyn Hagens; special child she babysat, Dayon Jeremiah Larkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, and children she babysat.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Aug. 13, 2019, at Oakwood Street Church of Christ, with burial in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Aug. 12, at the church. Bro. Erman Williams will officiate.
Peyton Leftwich, Todd Officer, Dominique Officer, Kirk Young, Marlon Cullom, and Andre Shockley will serve as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
