The Democrat field

The Right Stuff – By Donald Holman

If I was a Democrat right now, I think I would be despondent and borderline suicidal. For weeks, President Trump sucks all the oxygen out of the air, and every news story is about him in some way. But, in the last couple weeks, the Democrats have been in the news, and its not been good. I think the Democrats seem determined to prove they can beat something with…nothing. And on and on and on the bad news rolled.

At the big debates, last time’s debate stars seemed lackluster, and this week’s “stars” were unknowns that were immediately cut down by other candidates oppo research arms before they even left the stage at the debates.

So….lessee… Crazy Bernie’s crazy act that was kind of engaging and interesting three years ago when everybody was living in Mom’s basement, but it seems kind of flat now that we have jobs, and it would be our paychecks he’s planning on taxing at 50 percent plus. Pocahontas seems awfully angry about something, and she has plans for everything except how to make herself likeable. Her every move, ever since she cracked that Near Beer on her television/streaming show seems contrived. She reminds me of that person that always knows “that was going to happen” five minutes after we’ve all seen the footage of the tragedy.

Kamal Harris, who seems as fake a black woman as Pocahontas’s Indian act (Her Dad was Jamaican, her mother an Indian from India?) acted as if she’d rather be somewhere else. The other bit players got their moments and seemed to be actual real humans. But then they would start talking about moving to higher ground or some other crackpot scheme, and again you would wonder…are these people well? Tulsi Gabbard took Kamal to task for her two facedness; one minute she is hanging out on New York radio talking about “inhaling” and smoking dope, the next she’s the eager prosecutor that sent thousands to jail for low level pot complaints!

And so it went the whole two days and six-plus hours of endless posing and faking. Don’t you just love it when candidates talk about forgiving college debt? It’s not every day that a politician promises to take your money and use it to bribe voters to vote for him/her. Democrats talk about the wealth gap as if every taxpayer was out there saving every penny and investing in the stock market and they Just. Can’t. Seem. To. Get. Ahead! Isn’t it possible some of those folks with no extra money paycheck to paycheck aren’t really doing a great job managing what they have? Oh, and I love these people with multiple children that talk about how they have no money and kids to raise. Would it be possible to ask these people to limit their reproduction to match their salaries? Hmmm?

Oh, and all these candidates that seem so concerned about illegal aliens! If someone came here from another planet, they would think illegals are the biggest voting block in America! These candidates and moderators come up with all these names for illegals and show them such respect! Far more than they would show…oh, I don’t know, say maybe an irredeemable Trump supporter?

Tell me…who told these candidates the way to get elected was to promise more illegal immigration and more benefits to illegals? On the one hand, they talk about how tough it is to make a living in Trump’s booming economy, and the next minute candidates are handing out free healthcare for illegals when their own voting constituents can’t afford their insurance! And can we please call it insurance!

Take a look at this immigrant’s attitude: “To this I say: No, we are not. I take my place in America — an imperfect place — and I make it my own; there’s a Constitution that protects my right to do so. I will not genuflect at the white American altar. I will not bow and scrape before my supposed benefactors. I understand the soul of this nation just as well, if not better, than they do: a country that stole the futures of the people who are now arriving at its borders, a cacophonous country, an exceptional country, but one that seems determined to continually sabotage its journey towards a more perfect union. Nobody powerful ever gave the powerless anything just because they asked politely, and immigrants don’t come hat-in-hand. I am an uppity immigrant. I am entitled to be here. Deal with it.”  This from an immigrant from Calcutta, India, as written in the Washington Post.

This quote from Bill Maher probably sums it all up, “All the Democrats have to do to win is to come off less crazy than Trump, and, of course, they’re blowing it. Coming across as unserious people who are going to take away all your money so migrants from Honduras can go to college for free and get a major in America sucks. Now, do I want Biden to be president? Not really. But Biden’s the only Democrat who beats Trump in Ohio. He’s like non-dairy creamer. Nobody loves it, but in a jam, it gets the job done.”

Sigh… I have news for ole Bill. Biden is never gonna go the distance. He just doesn’t have what it takes. He couldn’t last even halfway through the election season when he was a much younger man. He looks good on paper, and he always has. But, they never write down on their paper that he’s…well, ole Joe is just a little slow!

I guess we are all stuck watching these marginal players try to out-crazy each other for the nomination… And I am beginning to think by the time they get it, it’s not gonna be worth much!

Until next week…

Well Donald, I hope you are sitting down when you read this, but for once I mostly agree with you. The Democrats have a great opportunity to win back the White House===its just too bad they have to come up with a candidate. I am fiercely independent but realistic enough to know an independent or third party candidate doesnt have a chance in our system. It is no strange occurrence that none of the new emerging nations in the past 30 years have adopted our form of representative democracy. Sadly it continues to be the best form of government MONEY CAN BUY.

“…President Trump sucks…” is the longest factual phrase to appear in one of your columns

If polls are to be believed Biden is the man so far. Moderate Democrats will vote for him. Progressives maybe. It probably depends on how much he’s offering for free. All those on stage will line up hoping for a position in his administration.
