The Peter Principle

It has been a year since I have shared my political opinions and insights with the readers of The Expositor. It has taken that long to recover from Hurricane Harvey and the significant damage and losses personally encountered when that powerful force of nature came ashore in late August 2017. I hope to return to my once-a-week articles, but for a while I will be submitting my articles on an irregular basis due to a combination of personal and business-related demands on my time. I regret that my absence left you at the mercy of the national propaganda wing of the Socialist Democrat Party, which President Trump has correctly labeled the “fake” new media. They, however, are not the subjects of today’s article, as I am currently more concerned with Jeff Sessions, the absentee attorney general of the United States of America.
I address Jeff Sessions, who ostensibly holds the third most powerful position in our government behind the president and vice president, as “Mr. Sessions.” I do that because, in my considered opinion, he is the attorney general in name only. Almost immediately after being sworn in as attorney general, he turned the daily oversight and, for all practical purposes, the leadership of the Department of Justice (DOJ) over to his in-place Deputy Rod Rosenstein. Mr. Sessions then quickly disappeared.
He has been seen, but only infrequently and very briefly on matters of far less importance than the cases he needs to deal with. For instance, he has either ignored or is unaware of: (01) the violation of the constitution by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in its use of a two-tier justice system in applying the rule of law; (02) an out-of-control special counsel Robert Mueller who has found no collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, but who is still wandering around hoping to find that President Trump once ate Russian caviar so he can claim collusion with a Russian delicacy; (03) the unwarranted investigations of anyone close to the president; (04) the mounting evidence that the top echelons of the DOJ and FBI knowingly and willingly conspired with anti-Trump individuals and the Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) in a failed effort to keep Donald Trump from being elected president. And, when Candidate Trump won the election, the DOJ and FBI used fabricated information financed by Hillary Clinton and the Socialist Democrat Party to obtain warrants with the objective of finding something that could be used to have the president impeached; (05) the lack of an investigation on the unmasked existence of “the deep state,” a long running government-wide covert effort by the SDP that uses mid-level government employees/SDP agents entrenched throughout the state department, the DOJ, FBI and other federal government entities to leak information and assist in the effort to degrade the president.
The SDP did not want to expose the existence of this hidden network as it was intended to support and promote the liberal and socialist agenda to undermine the federal government from within. It is part of a vailed methodical effort to eventually take over the federal government and this country without firing a shot. This is a tactic that worldwide socialists have used to undermine and take over other countries. However, Donald Trump’s bold presidency and its speed in keeping campaign promises forced the SDP to call on this covert network to help stop his momentum. In doing so, the existence of these “deep state operatives” was exposed. This is a threat to our security and needs to be formally investigated and dismantled. But our AG is nowhere to be found.
How can Mr. Sessions be unaware of or disinterested in all of this, and why hasn’t he involved himself and taken aggressive action? The answer can be found in a 1968 best-selling book titled “The Peter Principle,” which was based on the research of Laurence J. Peter and co-authored with Raymond Hull. “The Peter Principle” is an observation or theory that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as large private sector corporations and big government, to use an employee reward system in which individual employees are systematically promoted upward through the hierarchy, based on their proven skills, abilities and successes. This continues until they individually reach a position/level where they are no longer competent. To put it more succinctly, in a hierarchy environment the higher an individual moves up the corporate ladder or government chain of command, the closer he or she is to reaching a state of incompetence. And, when that point is reached, the Peter Principle is applicable.
Returning to the issue of Mr. Sessions’ personal Peter Principle predicament, Donald Trump’s presidency has shaken ‘the swamp” and its prosecutable secrets are beginning to float to the top. Unfortunately, the hierarchy of the DOJ and the FBI are implicated in some serious matters, some of which appear to be criminal in nature. As a result, they are currently in a self-preservation mode.
Mr. Sessions has further complicated the matter because he simply does not know what to do, so he is doing nothing. He was not at the helm of the DOJ when all this nefarious activity involving the DOJ and the FBI occurred, but he can’t come to terms with the embarrassing and damaging infidelity of the nation’s top law enforcement entities.
Now is the time he needs to be talking to the president and Homeland Security. To my knowledge he has not reached out to anyone for advice and help. His reclusiveness and lack of action amounts to full validation of the Peter Principle; his skills and abilities are not sufficient for the position of AG. With the former Democrat Party now in the hands of leftists/socialists who are promoting divisiveness and discord across the country, we need a strong attorney general and new top-tier leadership in both the DOJ and FBI. With much regret, I favor the dismissal of Mr. Sessions, his deputy Rod Rosenstein, and the Director of the FBI, who has been nothing but an empty suit since replacing the infamous James Comey. I know the president wants to wait until after the mid-term elections to replace these people. I understand his reason for wanting to wait, but if the situation worsens, the president may have to act before then. God Bless America!
