Two White County women were injured in a two-vehicle crash, on June 29, at approximately 11:40 a.m., at the intersection of Highway 111 and Walker Cove Road.
According to Patrolman David Grissom with Sparta Police Department, Wynett Joy Maynard, 51, was driving northbound on Highway 111 in a black 2009 Nissan Altima.
As Maynard came to the intersection, a gray 1991 Toyota Camry, being driven by Johnnie Ruth Young, 82, pulled from the westbound lane of Walker Cove Road and into the path of Maynard.
Young’s vehicle was struck in the passenger side, and both vehicle came to rest in the north west corner of the intersection.
Young and Maynard were both transported by emergency personnel with White County Emergency Medical Services to White County Community Hospital.
Grissom stated both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the airbag of Maynard’s vehicle did deploy.
He said Young was issued a citation for failure to yield.
