Edd Rogers Valley Ford Mercury of Sparta is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a local FFA member in the spring of 2005.
Valley Ford Mercury has been a participating dealer in the Ford Trucks/FFA Scholarship Program for the past year.
“There are no certain requirements as long as the student is involved in FFA, but the committee will be looking at leadership activities, agricultural experience and other participation in activities throughout high school,” said Diane Finley, manager of Valley Ford.
This scholarship is one of approximately 700 that will be awarded by Ford dealers nationwide to FFA members in their trade area who are high school seniors or college freshman planning to attend college during the 2005-2006 school year.
“Applications will be available at Edd Rogers Valley Ford Mercury or from an FFA advisor,” Finley said.
Applications can also be downloaded at
“All applications must be postmarked by Feb. 15, 2005,” Finley said. “Notification of the winner will be in late April.”
This is the eighth year of the Ford Trucks/FFA Scholarship Program, which has awarded more than $2,000,000 to FFA members since 1997. Ford Trucks is the largest sponsor in the FFA scholarship program.
Ford Trucks Scholarship Program is a collaborative effort between Ford Division, Ford Motor Company Fund and local Ford dealers. Dealers contribute $500 toward each $1,000 scholarship, and Ford Division, Ford Motor Company Fund matches an additional $500.
The Ford Trucks/FFA Scholarship Program is designed to recognize the academic achievement, accomplishments and talents of FFA members throughout the U.S. Ford Trucks and its dealers sponsor these scholarships as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
As a special incentive for FFA chapters and members, Ford Trucks once again has chosen to award a new F150 to the FFA chapter with the three most high-scoring applications. For details on this exciting program, contact the FFA Foundation at 800-769-3105.
For 56 years Ford has supported the FFA, knowing the value of hard work and believing it should be rewarded. Because of this, the Ford Trucks FFA Scholarship Fund has been increased each year since its inception. Educating aspiring young people to become the leaders of tomorrow is just another way of ensuring a successful future.
FFA is a national youth organization of over 475,000 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with approximately 7,200 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Visit for more information.
