Walter Wirt Jared

Walter Wirt Jared, 77, of Smith County, formerly of Cookeville, passed away Dec. 11, 2004.
Jared was born March 28, 1927, in Putnam County, to Walter A. Jared and Alto Mae Wyatt Jared.
He had been an educator and football coach for more than 31 years in the Upper Cumberland area.
Jared was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deborah Jo Jared; one sister, Ann Jared; and two brothers, John Jared and Luke Jared.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Farley Jared; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and James Owen, of Murfreesboro, Marsha and Dennis Rogers, of Pulaski; one son, Michael Jared, of Nashville; six grandchildren, Leslie Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Katie Jared, all of Atlanta, Jay Sanders, Jared Owen, Michael B. Owen, all of Murfreesboro.
Services were at 1 p.m., Dec. 13, 2004, at Buffalo Valley Presbyterian Church with burial in Jared Cemetery. Rev. Morgan Wallace and Dr. Wesley Henry officiated.
