The Warriorettes huddle around Coach Bryan Haley during a timeout late in the season ending loss to Cumberland County in the region semifinals.

The Warriorettes fell victim to a slow start in their Region 3AAA semifinal game against the Cumberland County Lady Jets.
After trailing 15-4 at the end of one period of play, the Warriorettes would battle their way back to take the lead momentarily in the third quarter, but eventually succumbed to the Lady Jets 49-44. The game was a battle to the finish between two neighboring schools, but in the end, Cumberland County was the one standing and advancing on to the region finals and the substate.
Amber Hudgens paced WCHS with 13 points followed by Allyson Quillen with 12.
See Thursday’s edition for full details.
The loss ended the Warriorette season at 14-18, but they won their first district tournament championship in 14 years.
Cumberland County will take on Bradley Central, who defeated Coffee County 56-39 in the other semifinal contest, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Crossville.
