WCHS tennis in action last Wednesday and Thursday at home

    The White County High School tennis teams played host to a pair of matches on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.  
    On Wednesday, the Warriorettes and Warriorettes hosted Coffee County in a contest between two evenly matched squads.  There were a total of six tiebreakers played on the afternoon.  The Warriors squeaked out the 5-3 win while the Warriorettes were narrowly defeated 4-3.
    Justin Turney picked up an 8-1 win in his singles match with Rutland.  Tyler Brady was defeated 8-5 by Avey.  Kevin Honaker suffered a 9-7 tiebreaker loss to Williams.  Tyler Rash picked up an 8-2 win over Taylor.  Conlan Cash went to a tiebreaker and took the 7-5 win in that match.  J.T. Randolph wrapped up the boy’s singles matches with an 8-5 win over Wilkins.  
    The Warriors split the doubles matches with the Red Raiders.  The tandem of Justin Turney and Tyler Brady edged Williams/Avey in a 7-2 tiebreaker.  Kevin Honaker and Conlan Cash suffered an 8-5 setback to Rutland/Taylor.
    For the Warriorettes, Kim Madge, playing as the top seed, took the 9-7 tiebreaker win in her singles match against Terrell.  Star Simpson suffered an 8-1 loss to Floyd.  Chelsea Sims came back and took a 10-8 tiebreaker win over Taylor.  Lauren Cannon suffered a 7-5 loss to Henderson in her tiebreaker set.  Megan James was defeated 8-1 by Gibson.
    Kim Madge and Lauren Cannon teamed up to take a win over Taylor/Henderson in a 7-4 tiebreaker.  The duo of Chelsea Sims and Star Simpson were defeated 8-1 by Terrell/Floyd.
    Warren County came to town Thursday for a District 7AAA match and captured 14 wins over the Warriors and Warriorettes with WCHS picking up only one victory for the afternoon.  The lone winner of the day for WCHS was Justin Turney who took an 8-6 win over Salem McGregor in a tiebreaker.
    Turney also went into a tiebreaker in his doubles match where he was teamed up with Tyler Brady.  The duo lost that 9-7 to McGregor/Black.

    The Warriors and Warriorettes return to action Tuesday when they travel to Riverdale for another District 7AAA encounter.  That is their only scheduled match for the week.
