L-R: Cheyanne, Jason, Sierra
A young girl was recently surprised by their dad’s return from his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Jason Williams, a member of the National Guard, was scheduled to return home after a 10-month deployment. However, his trip was delayed because of the Smyrna Air Show. His daughter, Cheyanne, 11, left for 4-H Camp, on a Monday. Williams’ wife and other daughter, Sierra, 9, picked him up on the following Tuesday. Since the campers have to contact with the “outside world” unless an emergency arises, Cheyanne was unaware if he had made it home. The campers finally returned home and were picked up at White County Middle School. Excited parents and 4-H leaders “hid” Jason so they could surprise Cheyanne. The 4-H leader got everyone’s attention and made some announcements, and Jason was then brought out. Cheyanne immediately spotted him and ran to him. According to one of the teachers who was present at the reunion, many tears of joy were shed by all. Both girls attend Cassville Elementary.
