At approximately 12:09 on the afternoon of April 16, Sparta and White County emergency departments responded to a call for a house fire at 21 Marchbanks St., in Sparta city limits.
Sparta Police Chief Nick Dunn issues a statement, saying that further communication would come after an investigation was completed:
“Our hearts are heavy with grief as we confirm the occurrence of a residential fire incident resulting in a loss of life in Sparta, TN. At this time, out of respect for the privacy of those involved, we are withholding any further details.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the affected individuals and their families during this incredibly difficult time.
We appreciate the swift response and efforts of the Sparta Police and Fire Dept, Cassville, Central View, Doyle Hickory Valley, North End Fire Departments, White County EMS, TBI, White Co E-911 and we extend our gratitude to them for their dedication and bravery in the face of such incident.
As this situation continues to unfold, we will provide updates as they become available. We kindly ask for your understanding and respect for the privacy of those affected.
Sparta Police Department remains committed to supporting the community and offering assistance where needed.”
The all clear was issued and all units were able to return to their bases after approximately six hours on the scene.
