Minute with the Mayor

One of the roles of the government is safety.  In an effort to keep the streets of Sparta safe, we are looking and are in discussions concerning two of our intersections located within the city limits of Sparta.

The first intersection is at Golden Mountain Road and Hale Street.  There is much traffic, including school buses, that negotiate the blind turn from Hale Street onto Golden Mountain Road.  We are looking at making that intersection a three-way stop or at least a two-way stop.  Putting a stop sign at the eastbound Golden Mountain Road will give those pulling out from Hale Street a safer exit onto that road.

The second road we are looking at is Turntable Road and Ray Broyles Road and Oak Forest Lane.  The city is looking at adding a stop sign at the westbound Ray Broyles Road that will be heading into town toward the middle school.  This would allow safer travel for those on Oak Forest Lane and Turntable Road.

These changes are in the discussion phase at this time.  Please feel free to contact the city about your concerns.

Be safe out there. Finish strong.
