The WCMS Warrior baseball team won games last week when they played Stone Memorial, in Crossville, on March 12, and then against York, at home, on March 14. The wins improved the Warriors’ record to 3-0 overall.

The WCMS Warriors traveled up the mountain to take on Stone Memorial, on March 12. In the top half of the first inning, Gage Walker reached base on a walk and then was driven in by Griffin Adams who doubled to right-centerfield. That would be the Warriors only hit and only run and would be enough. Griffin Adams took the mound for the Warriors and pitched four innings of 1 hit baseball, striking out 6 and allowing no runs. Gage Walker came in and closed the game out in the fifth inning picking up the save to secure the 1-0 win for the Warriors.

On March 14, the Warriors welcomed York into town and won in convincing fashion by a score of 10-0. Clay Brewington pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out 7. The Warriors had six hits in the game by five players including Gage Walker who went 2-3. Griffin Adams, Clay Brewington, Matthew Wilson, and Lain Stone each collected one hit in the contest. Clay Brewington led the Warriors with 2 RBIs followed by Gage Walker, Griffin Adams, Kolt Norris, and Ben McAfee who had one RBI each.

The Warriors have three games on the schedule this week, including two district matchups. They traveled to take on district foe Dekalb West, on March 19. The Warriors also travel to Crossville to play Cumberland County, on March 21, before they host Dekalb West, in Sparta, on March 22. All games have a 5 p.m. start time.
