Three juveniles and one adult were transported by air medical helicopters from the scene of a two-vehicle crash last week involving a log truck and a Dodge Durango.
According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:30 p.m., June 19, 2025, Tammy Sullivan, 33, of Tennessee, was driving a 2023 Dodge Durango when she attempted to turn onto Hodges Ferry Road from Highway 111, in Van Buren County, and struck a 2001 Peterbilt semi, traveling south, on Highway 111. Cole Williams, 40, of Tennessee, was the driver of the semi, which was listed in the report as a log truck.
The reported stated there were three passengers (all juveniles), along with the driver, in the Dodge Durango. All four occupants were airlifted to Erlanger Medical Hospital, in Chattanooga.
The driver and only occupant of the log truck were not injured.
According to the THP report, it is unknown if the driver of the Dodge Durango was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the log truck was wearing a seatbelt.
No charges are pending for either driver.
Piney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they advised there was entrapment in one of the vehicles.
White County Firefighters Association South Group was requested to assist. Spencer Fire Department was also dispatched.
According to Piney Volunteer Fire Department, when units arrived on the scene, they found multiple patients. Two of the patients were trapped in the vehicle. Extrication was performed by Piney Volunteer Fire Department, Doyle Volunteer Fire Department, Central View Fire Department, and Spencer Fire Department members.
Van Buren County Emergency Medical Service requested four helicopters for patients. LIFE FORCE Air Medical had three helicopters, and U.T. Medical had one helicopter respond.
Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Sparta-White County Rescue Squad also responded.
