Billy Ward Carter, 82, passed away Dec. 27, 2025, at Generations in Spencer.
Billy was born on May 30, 1943, in Sparta, to Willie J. Carter and Velma Ward Carter.
Billy was a well-known and well-loved resident for 25 years at Generations in Spencer and a member of Athens Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his baby brother and an uncle, Clay Ward.
Billy is survived by his brother, Carlen Carter; sister-in-love, Linda Carter; cousin, Tracy Tollison; adopted sisters, Tania Whittenburg and Nelouise Geer; beloved friend, Margaret “Rose” Frasier; along with many special friends who became like family at Generations in Spencer.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Jan. 2, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home, with burial in Saylors Cemetery.
