Carlin Pitman, 95, of Southgate, Michigan, and a native of White County, passed away Nov. 16, 2022.
Mr. Pitman was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Sparta. He was the last surviving child of the nine born to the Rev. John B. Pitman and Gusta Elizabeth Hitchcock Pitman.
He was a retired truck driver and veteran of the United States Army. Carlin was a member of the Masonic Lodge and longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and all his siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Johnie R. Petty Pitman, who passed away on Dec. 28, 2010.
Surviving family members include his children, Danny (Randa) Pitman, Colette (Tony) Amato, Sherry Pitman; grandchildren, Andrea (Jeff) Mijat, Nichole (Andrew) Traugh, Adam (Tiffany) Pitman, Aaron Pitman, Anthony Amato, Jessica (Michael) Turgeon; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Seth, Adeline, Alden, Ada, John; one great-great-grandchild, Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 10 a.m., Nov. 21, 2022, at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial, with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard, followed in Saylors Cemetery. Jeff Howard officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
