Carol Janette Price, 84, of Sparta, passed away Oct. 16, 2024, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Janette was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Byrdstown, to Ord and Maggie Parris Garrett.

Janette was a secretary with over 40 years of employment with the Tennessee State retirement system. She was formerly employed with the White County Schools Superintendent’s Office and Sparta Probation and Parole Office as a secretary. She also worked at the White County Justice Center in Public Relations. Janette was a former White County Judicial Commissioner for many years. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Sparta.

Janette was an avid Tennessee Titans and Vanderbilt Commodores football fan. She loved going to yard sales with her close friends, June Sewell and Gwen Johnson, her companion, David Jones, or her grandson, Logan. She was a passionate Elvis fan. She loved gardening and growing irises and other beautiful flowers. Watching hummingbirds visit outside her window at Life Care brought her joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Price; son Todd Price; grandson, James Keith Price; and loving companion, David Jones.

Survivors include her son, Tim (Becky) Price, of McMinnville; daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Winton, of Sparta; grandchildren who lovingly called her GiGi, Brandi (Jason) Dew, of Erin, Lacey (Kyle) King, of Sparta, Logan Winton, of Sparta, Danielle (Bryan) Graham, of McMinnville, Michael (Erin) Mayfield, of Nashville, Shawna (Luke) Hall, Becca and Andrew Coleman, of Signal Mountain; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Brady Thompson, Josie and Lincoln King, Marlee and Maggie Sliger, Thomas Hall, Jette, Vesper and Rowan Coleman, and Britton Mayfield; sisters, Sammie Young, of Cookeville, Judy (Mickey) Klein, of Ocala, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff, nurses, and CNAs at Life Care Center of Sparta who took such good care of Mom. She loved you all, and each of you became a part of our family.

Graveside service was Oct. 20, 2024, at Saylors Cemetery. Bro. Doug Benningfield officiated.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
