Charles Ray Wilkins, 69, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 24, 2024, at his residence.
Charles was born Jan. 5, 1955, in Sparta.
He was a longtime employee of Southern Wood Products. His days were devoted to watching westerns. His Saturdays were spent watching racing at dirt tracks and Sundays to watching NASCAR on television, although all of his time and his love were devoted to being “Big Pa” to family.
Charles was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Bessie Ivey; mother, Clevadell Rich; father and stepmother, Mount Herman and Bonnie Wilkins; brother, Herman Lee Wilkins; and grandson, Chase Davis.
Survivors include his four daughters, Elaine Killian and husband Shannon, Marlena Wilkins, Hannah Wilkins, Tracy Stanley; grandchildren, Zachary Wilkins-Nelson, Zoey Moore, Connor Killian, Autumn Patterson, Chelsey (Jared) Batson; sisters, Ruth Wilkins, Kathy Carter, Lisa (Wayne) Keith; brothers, Maurice (Linda) Wilkins, James “Pete” (Beverly) Wilkins, David Wilkins; special friend, Debbie Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Sept. 27, 2024, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Doug Benningfield officiated.
Mike Stowers, Zachary Wilkins-Nelson, Connor Killian, Doug Carr, Darryl Young, Joseph Young, Pete Wilkins, and Matthew Shubert served as pallbearers.
