Charlie Lee Scott Sr., 74, of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly, on Jan. 17, 2025, in the emergency room of Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
Charlie was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Sparta, to Jimmy and Mollie Lorene Turrington Scott.
He was one of the founders of Scott Logging and Lumber. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed his fishing in a fast boat. Most of all he loved being Pa and Big Charlie to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy C. “Jimburr” Scott, who died October 4, 2024.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Verna Ruth Barlow Scott; two sons, Charlie Lee Scott Jr. and wife Tonya, Barry Scott and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Bryan, Emilee, Matthew, Jacob, Alex Scott; sisters and their spouses, Ava and Rick Mahler, Brenda and William Trute, Glenda and David Zuber, Charles and Beverly Justice; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., Jan. 21, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Charlie Scott, Bryan Scott, Barry Scott, Matthew Scott, Jacob Scott, Alex Scott, and Shawn Graham served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
