Charlotte Kay Bumbalough Elrod passed from this life Sept. 7, 2025, at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, in Nashville.

Charlotte was born May 31, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, to Lovell and Thelma Bumbalough.

As a youth, Charlotte enjoyed playing volleyball and softball.

Charlotte was known far and wide for her ability to bring happiness through cooking. Entertaining family and friends was truly Charlotte’s ministry while those who knew her would tell you that she had a gift of making you feel seen, valued, and loved whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger in passing. Charlotte’s compassion drew you in like warmth on a cold day.

Charlotte loved to travel, and, if you needed a travel buddy, she was always ready to go.

In addition to her parents, she  was preceded in death by her grandparents, Stevie and Mattie Lewis and Everett and Callie Bumbalough.

Left to carry on her memory of faith and love of others are her loving, husband Jerry Lee Elrod; children, Jerremy (Brandi) Elrod, Amy (Bill) Davis; grandchildren, Mckenna (David) Curry, Carlee Elrod, Alexis Davis, River Davis, London Davis; and siblings, Roger and Germaine Bumbalough and Carla Bumbalough.

Services were 2 p.m., Sept. 9, 2025, at North Sparta Church of God, with burial in Carter Cemetery. Pastor Steve Gerhart and the Rev. Don Goodrum officiated.

Pallbearers were Justin Usrey, Jeffery Usrey, Devin Usrey, Bobby Flores, Tim Flores, Tim Carter, and Bill Davis.

Though we mourn her loss, Charlotte was adored by so many and has left a legacy of faith, kindness, beauty, and servanthood. She took care of everyone she knew and took care of them well.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
